2025 Maryland State Youth of the Year Honored by Governor Wes Moore

On Friday, July 18, 2025, two exceptional young leaders were recognized for their achievements and dedication to service. Jared J., representing the Boys & Girls Clubs of Carroll County, and Aysia M., representing the Joint Base Andrews Youth Program, were honored by Maryland Governor Wes Moore as 2025 Maryland State Youth of the Year recipients.

Governor Moore welcomed both honorees to the State House, where he personally presented each of them with a Governor’s Citation—one of the state’s highest forms of recognition. This prestigious award celebrates Jared and Aysia not only for their accomplishments within their local youth programs, but also for their broader impact on their communities and their roles as powerful examples to youth across the state.

Boys & Girls Clubs of America’s Youth of the Year program is the premier leadership and recognition initiative of Boys & Girls Clubs and affiliated youth organizations across the country. It celebrates young people who have overcome challenges, demonstrated exceptional character and leadership and made meaningful contributions to their Club, school and community. Both Jared and Aysia exemplify the values of this award. Their commitment to service, personal growth, and leadership have distinguished them among their peers and earned them the admiration of mentors, community members and state leaders alike. Their stories remind us of the power of youth leadership and the importance of investing in the next generation. We are deeply grateful to Governor Wes Moore for recognizing their achievements and for his continued support of youth development across Maryland.

As these young leaders continue to rise, their stories serve as a reminder that when given support and opportunity, Maryland’s youth are capable of achieving extraordinary things. Congratulations to Jared and Aysia on this incredible honor! Your dedication and leadership are an inspiration to us all.
